Take a deposit on bookings
Updated October 2026
Short answer
Set a deposit, like 15% or the full price. The customer pays it to book, and pays the rest to you in person. Zova's fee only applies to the deposit.
A deposit holds the slot. People who've paid something turn up.
How it looks to your customer
Your page tells them: Pay a small deposit to hold your slot. The rest you pay on the day. Their ticket shows the balance left to pay, on arrival or on completion.
Example: ₦20,000 service with a 25% deposit
- Paid online to book
- ₦5,000
- Paid to you in person
- ₦15,000
- Zova fee (1.5% of the deposit)
- ₦75
The ₦15,000 balance never goes through Zova, so it's not charged.
Set your deposit
- 1
Tap More, then Settings
- 2
Tap Deposits
It says How much of a booking is paid up front. You only see it if you offer services.
- 3
Pick your percentage
The lowest is 15%. Choose 100% if you want customers to pay in full upfront. Zova shows you examples using your own service prices.
- 4
Tap Save
It's one percentage for all your services. Product orders are always paid in full, so there's no deposit to set for them.
Who keeps the deposit
If the customer cancels or doesn't show up, you keep it. If you cancel, they get it back. See cancellations and no-shows.
